The Day Trip prospect is located 7 kilometres west of the south end Tatlayoko Lake, about 57 kilometres south-southeast of the community of Kleena Kleene.
The Day Trip zone was discovered in 2020 by prospecting a gossan formed from hornfels alteration of sedimentary rocks belonging to the Lower Cretaceous Cloud Drifter Formation intruded by a monzonite intrusion of the Late Cretaceous to Paleocene Bendor Suite. The area is situated on flat to low angled slopes on a mountain approximately 3.5 kilometres to the southeast of the nearest samples within the Cloud Drifter Trend (see MINFILE 092N 095) in an area with no documented historical exploration. Prospecting examined a 70- by 90-metre zone of extensive gold bearing sulfide-cement breccias in float with grades up to 20.1 grams per tonne gold (Press Release Kingfisher Metals Corp., May 13, 2021).
The Day Trip target is situated between two interpreted fault splays of the regional Ottarasko Fault. High-density intrusive-hosted veins up to 2 metres in width occur over an area of about 100 metres by 400 metres. Quartz veins from this area returned grades from below detection limit to 6.7 grams per tonne gold (Press Release Kingfisher Metals Corp., January 12, 2022). Adjacent to the intrusion is a 70- by 90-metre area of arsenopyrite-cement breccia in subcrop. Approximately 20 per cent of the subcrop material in this area consists of arsenopyrite-cement breccia with grades from 3.4 to 20.1 grams per tonne gold. Talus fine sampling in 2020 outlined a broad area of gold anomalism coincident with areas of gold in outcrop and subcrop that graded up to 8.4 grams per tonne gold over the subcrop breccia area (Press Release Kingfisher Metals Corp., January 12, 2022, and Assessment Report 39459). Rock and talus fine geochemistry both yield a strong multi-element signature of arsenic, silver, copper, bismuth, tellurium, and lead.
Drilling in 2021 also revealed broad zones of near-surface mineralization over significant widths. Geochemical sampling in 2021 on the Day Trip zone covered an area of about 400 metres by 450 metres. The 2021 talus fine sampling increasing the footprint of anomalous (greater than 100 parts per billion) gold-in-talus fines to an area measuring about 50 by 100 metres in 2020 to about 100 metres by 450 metres in 2021. Talus fines in 2021 graded up graded up to 1.0 gram per tonne gold (Press Release Kingfisher Metals Corp., January 12, 2022).
The 2021 exploration program at the Day Trip Zone consisted of 4.2-line kilometres of Induced Polarization (IP) geophysical surveying in addition to 189 talus fine samples. The program was designed to follow up on an area of arsenopyrite cement breccia subcrop adjacent to an area of intrusive-hosted quartz veins. The IP geophysical surveying (IP Survey Inversions) delineated three domains with significant high chargeability values, the largest of which is broadly coincident with areas of known mineralization and talus fine anomalies. The geophysical anomalies are open to the south, north, and southwest as well as at depth.
In 2021, a total of 214 rock samples and 2604 soil and talus fine samples were collected. Backpack drilling of shallow holes was completed at the Lori (092N 047), Langara (092N 036), Lost Fiddle (092N 018), and Lotus (092N 062) zones. Other showings are such as Razorback (092N 097), Cloud Drifter (092N 095), and CD North (092N 098) are also noted, and geological mapping was completed along ridge and spur traverses in addition to select targets (Press Release Kingfisher Metals Corp., March 31, 2021).
